Abstract:
The notation \partial^a_b*q is proposed for the partial derivative
(\partial q /\partial a)_b. Its usefulness in thermodynamics is demonstrated
by deducing the fundamental relations. The Jacobian matrices are interpreted
as quotients of multidimensional differentials, called partials. These devices
have been applied to higher dimensions.
